My name is Matthew Lavine. I have a B.S. in Information Technology from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and I am a Site Reliability Engineer at Google in New York City. I love technology, aviation, and playing jazz on my saxophone.
I attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology and graduated in 2016. I received a B.S. in Information Technology after studying in areas including Linux Server Administration, Linux Kernel Programming, Computer Forensics, and Cisco Networking.
I am an avid Jazz musician. During my first year at NJIT I was saddened by the lack of a music program and did not want to put down my Saxophone forever. With the help of my roommate, also an avid musician, we co-founded the NJIT Society of Musical Arts. Over our four years at NJIT we managed to start three bands: a Jazz Band, a Concert Band, and a String Ensemble. These groups saw immediate growth and now perform every semester for the entire student body. I was honored to act as the band-leader for the Jazz Band during my time in it. I believe co-founding and serving as President of this society was the one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had the honor of taking part in.
I am currently employed by Google as a Site Reliability Engineer in New York, New York.
I am mainly interested in Advanced Networking and Linux Systems Administration. I have experience administering environments running Windows, Linux, Virtual Computing, and Cisco IOS.
